Environmental Strategy Implementation Consultant

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager in UNEP West Asia Office, the Consultant will work closely with the General Department of Environmental Strategy at MEWA to support the Strategy General Department to effectively drive and oversee the implementation of the National Environmental Strategy. The consultant s duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• Track and evaluate initiatives, indicators, and objectives of the National Environment Strategy to enhance performance measurement and ensure targets are met
• Ensure alignment of regional strategies within Saudi Arabia with the broader National Environment Strategy, maintaining consistency and addressing stakeholder feedback to close identified gaps.
• Map and link MEWA National Centers projects with the strategy objectives in phased implementation
• Develop and oversee a 4-year roadmap for the updated strategy and follow up on initiative completion
• Redesign and strengthen the operating model of the Strategy General Department for effective oversight on the National Environment Strategy.
• Update financing scenarios, integrate alternative funding sources, manage stakeholder input, and provide annual performance evaluations
