Roles & Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The ERT Lead is responsible for managing the site’s emergency preparedness and response activities. This role ensures readiness to respond to fires, medical emergencies, spills, natural disasters, and other crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Coordination
    • Lead the ERT during all emergency situations and drills.
    • Ensure all ERT members are trained, equipped, and prepared for rapid response.
    • Coordinate with external emergency services (fire department, medical responders, law enforcement).
  • Preparedness
    • Develop and maintain the site’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
    • Schedule and lead emergency drills (fire, evacuation, spill response, etc.).
    • Verify that emergency equipment (extinguishers, SCBAs, spill kits, alarms) is functional and accessible.
  • Incident Management
    • Take command of on-site emergencies until relieved by higher authority or emergency services.
    • Assess the situation, prioritize actions, and allocate ERT resources effectively.
    • Communicate incident status updates to management and relevant authorities.
  • Training & Evaluation
    • Organize ERT training sessions, including first aid, firefighting, and rescue operations.
    • Evaluate ERT performance after drills and real incidents, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain emergency response records, logs, and after-action reports.
    • Participate in reviews of incidents and contribute to root cause analysis.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum of 5 years of industry specific Oil & Gas experience (on/off shore) as Emergency Response Technicians. Emergency Dispatch and Breathing Air Technicians will not be considered without the relevant years of Emergency Response Technician experience.

Certification that reflects proficiency/competency to the skill requirements of Chapter 7 (NFPA 1006 & 1670) for Confined Space Rescue and documented in accordance with OSHA 1910.146. Standard First Aid/CPR with AED.

• IRATA level two or three team leader (based on assessment).
