Job Description

An Estimation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the construction and engineering industries, focusing on evaluating project costs and resources required to successfully execute a project. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and construction processes, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Estimation Engineer is tasked with developing and analyzing cost estimates to help guide project planning and decision-making processes. This role requires collaboration with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure accuracy and feasibility of the estimates provided. Successful estimation is crucial in securing projects and maintaining project profitability and efficiency, making this role vital for the overall success of engineering projects.


Responsibilities
  • Analyze project specifications and blueprints to understand the project requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction and engineering projects, including materials and labor.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop accurate and competitive project bids.
  • Research and evaluate current market prices of materials and labor costs for accuracy.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options in early project stages.
  • Review and update estimates to reflect changes in project scope, design or construction methods.
  • Perform risk assessments and highlight potential cost-related risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate and negotiate with vendors and contractors to obtain the best possible pricing.
  • Provide support to project managers during client presentations and project discussions.
  • Document and maintain records of all estimation activities and prepare reports as required.
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements and industry trends affecting cost estimation practices.
  • Ensure all estimates adhere to company policies and are compliant with regional regulations and codes.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in cost estimation within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and a meticulous attention to detail are essential.
  • Proficiency in estimation software tools and Microsoft Office Suite for report preparation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively within tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
