Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
As an Estimation Engineer, you'll play a vital role in projects by determining the costs associated with various construction or manufacturing efforts. You'll work within the project management team to create accurate cost estimates that guide budgeting and planning decisions. You will use your engineering experience to analyze labor, materials, and time requirements in generating estimates. Your ability to interpret blueprints and specifications will allow you to make informed projections regarding project scope and resource needs. A deep understanding of the industry standards, coupled with a knack for mathematical precision, will enable you to provide forecasts that help to minimize financial risk while maximizing efficiency and profitability for the company.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project specifications and blueprints to create comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project management to ensure accurate cost structures are in place.
- Review and interpret construction plans to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Research, source, and evaluate potential vendors and subcontractors for cost-effective procurement.
- Prepare detailed proposals and bid documents for project approval processes.
- Manage and update records of historical project costs for future reference.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to collect additional project data.
- Coordinate with financial teams to align cost forecasts with budgetary goals.
- Adjust estimates as project parameters evolve, ensuring accurate budget controls.
- Audit completed projects to compare estimated and actual costs for accuracy improvement.
- Develop risk assessments based on project complexities and cost implications.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to explain estimation outcomes and assumptions.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is essential.
- Minimum of three years of experience in cost estimation or similar roles.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as AutoCAD, ProEst, or similar applications.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills to assess complex projects accurately.
- Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective stakeholder interaction.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
