Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Estimation Manager is responsible for overseeing the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for Civil, MEP and Infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all tenders and proposals align with market benchmarks, technical requirements, and company objectives. The Estimation Manager will work closely with business development, commercial, procurement, and project execution teams to secure profitable projects and optimize cost efficiencies.
Estimation & Costing:
Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for tenders in Civil, MEP and Infrastructure sectors.
Review drawings, specifications, and client requirements to assess project scope and cost implications.
Perform quantity take-offs, rate analysis, and cost breakdowns based on industry benchmarks.
Ensure estimates comply with contractual terms, technical specifications, and market conditions.
Tender & Proposal Management:
Manage the end-to-end bid preparation process, including pricing strategy, risk assessment, and final submissions.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and contracts teams to ensure competitive and compliant proposals.
Work closely with business development to evaluate tender opportunities and bid selection strategies.
Conduct cost comparison and value engineering to optimize bid competitiveness.
Market & Competitor Analysis:
Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and industry benchmarks to ensure competitive cost estimation.
Develop and maintain cost databases, historical cost records, and supplier/vendor pricing.
Engage with vendors and subcontractors to obtain the most competitive material and service rates.
Risk Assessment & Value Engineering
Identify and mitigate cost-related risks in project bids and contracts.
Implement value engineering strategies to improve cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the estimation team, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.
Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and commercial teams to streamline cost estimation processes.
Conduct training and development programs for junior estimators and engineers.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 12 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in Civil, MEP and Infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of estimation software (such as CCS, Candy, Primavera, or similar tools).
Experience in preparing and reviewing BOQs, cost breakdowns, and rate analysis.
Familiarity with contractual terms, FIDIC contracts, and procurement strategies.
Understanding of market pricing, supplier/vendor negotiations, and cost control methodologies.
Professional certifications (such as PMP, MRICS, or CCP) are a plus.
Expertise in preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates.
Ability to manage end-to-end bid preparation, ensuring compliance with technical and commercial requirements.
Strong analytical skills to identify risks, optimize costs, and improve project feasibility.
