Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Exhibition Designer leads the end-to-end design and delivery of immersive exhibition and event environments at House of Wisdom. This role is responsible for translating curatorial concepts into compelling spatial experiences, overseeing the full design lifecycle from ideation to installation, and ensuring high standards of quality, functionality, and audience engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate curatorial narratives and program objectives into innovative spatial design concepts that enhance visitor experience.

  • Develop detailed design packages, including technical drawings and fabrication-ready files using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Lead the full lifecycle of exhibition and event production—from concept development and vendor coordination to on-site installation and post-installation review.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with design intent, safety standards, and operational requirements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with exhibitions, events, operations, and facilities teams to align on timelines, technical specifications, and execution plans.

  • Oversee contractors, fabricators, and suppliers to maintain quality control and adherence to design specifications.

  • Ensure all designs consider accessibility, durability, and audience flow within the space.

  • Continuously evaluate and refine exhibition environments to enhance usability and visitor engagement.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of experience in exhibition, spatial, event, or experiential design, preferably within cultural, museum, or public engagement environments.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design tools.

  • Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation and managing design-to-production workflows.

  • Proven track record in overseeing installations and coordinating with fabrication and production teams.

  • Strong knowledge of materials, construction methods, and fabrication processes.

  • Solid understanding of visitor experience, spatial storytelling, and accessibility standards.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments is highly desirable.

  • Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
