Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Main tasks and responsibilities
Shareholder Strategy & Portfolio Management:
- Develop, maintain, and support the execution of shareholder strategies for assets and JVs, ensuring alignment with OQ Group objectives, OIA expectations, and long term energy transition goals.
- Oversee the implementation of asset business plans in coordination with planning teams, management, and shareholder Board nominees.
- Cascade OQ Group strategic priorities and KPIs to assets, ensuring clarity, consistency, and delivery against targets.
- Identify and develop synergies across assets to optimize portfolio performance and value.
- Support portfolio optimization initiatives, including divestments and acquisitions, assessing strategic alignment, valuation impact, and portfolio implications.
- Assist business development initiatives for assets and JVs under management.
- Contribute to the development of portfolio management frameworks, systems, processes, and reporting standards.
Performance Management & Value Creation
- Monitor the financial and operational performance of assets against approved business plans, budgets, and KPIs.
- Identify underperformance, risks, and execution gaps, and recommend corrective actions to management and shareholder representatives.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset profitability, cash flow, and long term value.
- Prepare and review financial projections in collaboration with planning teams, assessing impacts on cash flow, profitability, and shareholder returns.
- Conduct financial analysis for annual dividend proposals, evaluating sustainability, distributable reserves, and alignment with shareholder strategy.
- Communicate asset and portfolio performance, insights, and forward-looking risks to OQ leadership.
Governance, Boards & General Assemblies
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of governance frameworks to safeguard shareholder value and ensure effectiveness.
- Provide analytical support and informed challenge to shareholder Board nominees on asset strategies, business plans, and major initiatives.
- Lead or support board nomination processes, succession planning, and alignment with OIA, OQ management, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support AGMs and EGMs, including resolution alignment, voting positions, and compliance with shareholder and regulatory expectations.
- Secure required internal approvals within OQ for shareholder and governance-related matters.
Regulatory Compliance & Shareholder Representation
- Ensure compliance with regulations and requirements from FSA, MCD, MSX, and other relevant authorities.
- Act as the primary conduit for engagement and negotiations with regulators on shareholder-related matters.
- Monitor portfolio-level compliance with OIA regulations, industry standards, and Omani macroeconomic and national development plans.
- Conduct shareholder-level risk assessments, covering strategic, financial, regulatory, and governance risks, and support mitigation actions.
Investor Relations & Stakeholder Management
- Drive and support investor relations activities, including engagement with minority shareholders and external stakeholders, as applicable.
- Manage the overall interface and information flow between OQ Corporate, assets, Boards, regulators, and investors.
- Serve as the single point of contact for all shareholder, governance, regulatory, and performance-related data and information requests.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (Finance, Strategy, Legal, Risk, Planning) to ensure alignment, consistency, and effective decision-making across the portfolio.
Key interactions
Internal: OQ Group Assets/Subsidiaries, OQ SAOC Streams.
External: Specialized Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers, Joint Venture Partners.

Desired Candidate Profile
Education requirements
Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or in related field
Master s degree or CFA is preferable
Language
Arabic: Fluent
English: Fluent / Advanced
Command of other languages is advantageous
Background and experience
Competencies and skills
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the field with at least 5 years of experience in a team leader role.
- Technical background and be able to apply this knowledge to manage the organization's assets effectively and efficiently.
- Experience in developing an in-depth understanding of the assets and the industry they operate in, as well as the shareholder strategy.
- Experience in developing and leading an effective reporting system to track the performance of the assets to ensure that they are meeting the shareholder's expectations.
