Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the critical infrastructure systems within the data center, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and generators to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all facility equipment, such as HVAC systems, chillers, and fire suppression systems, to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Monitor and analyze environmental conditions within the data center, including temperature, humidity, and airflow, to maintain optimal operating conditions for IT equipment.
- Respond to and resolve facility-related incidents and emergencies, including power outages, cooling failures, and fire alarms, with swift and decisive action.
- Manage and coordinate vendor activities, including contractors and service providers, to ensure compliance with data center standards and procedures.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for facility operations and maintenance to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the data center facility to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage and track facility-related budgets, expenses, and inventory to maintain cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
- Participate in the design and construction of new data center infrastructure, providing technical expertise and ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to understand their needs and provide facility support to meet their service level agreements (SLAs).
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in engineering principles.
- Holds relevant certifications such as Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS) or Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), demonstrating a commitment to industry standards.
- Demonstrates 5+ years of experience in data center facilities engineering, showcasing practical knowledge of data center operations.
- Has a proven track record of experience in mission-critical facilities, highlighting the ability to handle high-stakes situations.
- Exhibits proficiency in critical infrastructure systems, including UPS, generators, and HVAC systems, ensuring operational reliability.
- Displays strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Shows excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Exhibits a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Possesses the ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail, maintaining accurate records and managing multiple tasks effectively.
