Roles & Responsibilities

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at the University of Balamand (UOB) prides itself on being a leader in engineering education and cutting edge research. Our programs in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering - BS (ABET accredited), BE, and MS - are supported by fully equipped and state-of-the-art laboratories that are open to students, community services, and industry users. Many of our laboratories have been granted the ISO certification, with a scope of activities that include teaching, testing for internal and external parties, consultancy as well as conducting various R&D programs. Teaching is delivered by highly qualified faculty and staff members and the research undertaking at all departments and centres is of high caliber attracting major European funding and active collaboration with highly ranked institutions leading to peer-reviewed publications in major scientific journals.

The Faculty of Engineering is currently seeking applicants for three lab instructors at UOB campus at Dekweneh, Beirut.

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for 3 full-time Lab instructors positions .


Essential Qualifications
  • - Bachelor s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field (Master s degree preferred).
  • - Strong practical and theoretical knowledge in core areas of Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • - Prior lab teaching or instructional experience is an asset.
  • - Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Desired Experience
  • - Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation commonly used in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • - Experience in teaching or assisting in undergraduate engineering labs.
  • - Familiarity with hardware and software tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Multisim, VHDL/Verilog, LabView, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms.
  • - Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment and setups.
  • - Involvement in the design and development of instructional materials or lab manuals.
  • - Knowledge of health and safety practices in an academic lab setting.
  • - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to students.
  • - Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and technical staff.
General Duties
  • - Prepare, organize, and conduct laboratory sessions for undergraduate courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • - Demonstrate the use of lab equipment, software tools, and experimental procedures to students.
  • - Provide technical guidance and support to students during lab sessions.
  • - Maintain lab equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure a safe working environment.
  • - Assist faculty in the design and development of new lab exercises and instructional materials.
  • - Grade lab reports, assignments, and assessments in coordination with course instructors.
  • - Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the lab.
  • - Maintain inventory and request necessary supplies or equipment.
Specific Responsibilities
  • - Supervise and instruct undergraduate laboratory sessions in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • - Assist in the development and maintenance of lab equipment, procedures, and instructional materials.
  • - Support student learning by providing hands-on guidance and technical expertise.
  • - Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment of lab activities with course objectives.
