Roles & Responsibilities
About the Role: This hands-on editorial role is crucial for strengthening our presence in Abu Dhabi. You will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality, engaging content across digital, social, and print platforms. We are looking for someone to shape our editorial direction, identify key stories, and maintain our strong, consistent brand voice.
What You ll Do:
- Own the AUH content calendar (digital, social, print).
- Produce SEO-optimised articles, features, and listings for whatson.ae.
- Write and commission long-form features that establish What s On as the authoritative guide to Abu Dhabi.
- Create platform-appropriate social content (feed posts, short-form video, stories) in collaboration with our Social Media Executive.
- Identify and break exclusive, first-to-market stories in Abu Dhabi s entertainment, hospitality, and lifestyle sectors.
- Attend events, launches, and activations to generate content and build strong PR relationships.
- Contribute 2-3 articles monthly to the What s On print magazine.
- Actively build and manage a network of Abu Dhabi PR and industry contacts.
What We re Looking For:
- Bachelor s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, or equivalent.
- 3-5 years experience in digital publishing, features writing, or lifestyle journalism.
- Strong SEO knowledge (headlines, keywording, search intent, content structure).
- Comfortable producing and editing short-form social video content.
- Proficient in CMS platforms (WordPress or equivalent) and familiar with analytics tools.
- Excellent written English with a strong editorial voice.
- Established UAE media/PR network, or clear evidence of actively building one.
- Solid understanding of the Abu Dhabi lifestyle, entertainment, and hospitality landscape.
