Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Support financial management of projects to ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
  • Develop and review project budgets during the planning phase.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including expenditures, forecasts, and budget utilization.
  • Review financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flow) and ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct financial monitoring visits and perform checks on supporting documents, transactions, and controls.
  • Support partners in financial reporting, budgeting, procurement planning, and responding to donor queries.
  • Build the financial capacity of partners through training, coaching, and continuous support.
  • Coordinate audits and follow up on audit findings and recommendations.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations (tax, legal, and financial requirements) and donor guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and reporting within systems.
  • Provide financial insights and reports to management for decision-making.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in finance within the NGO/INGO sector or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Experience in grant and donor compliance is preferred.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and forecasts.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Understanding of risk management and internal controls.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in training or supporting partners in financial processes is an advantage.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and problem-solving mindset.
