Roles & Responsibilities

This project, implemented by Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) with support from GIZ, focuses on strengthening stabilization efforts and promoting violence prevention in Iraq. It brings together local journalists, artists, and civil society organizations to create media productions and public art that foster dialogue, counter violence, and encourage community resilience. Activities include capacity-building workshops, mentorship for journalists, collaborative media and art productions, and public events to share outcomes with wider audiences.

The Finance Consultant will lead in all finance implementation in Iraq, based in Baghdad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage manual accounting processes, including bank and cash reconciliations, in coordination with HQ finance teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the clearing of operational payment advances and maintain timely, accurate vendor account records.
  • Support day-to-day financial transactions, including review and preparation of Support program managers in tracking project expenditures, providing timely burn-rate updates, and assisting with budget planning and control.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and local financial laws.
  • Support preparation for internal and external audits, including reconciliations, documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to management and project teams.
  • Strengthen financial policies, systems, and reporting frameworks to enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Support procurement processes in line with organizational and donor regulations.
  • Identify suppliers, collect quotations, and evaluate bids ensuring value for money and compliance.
  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing, delivery, and terms to protect organizational interests.
  • Draft, review, and monitor contracts and agreements with partners, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for procurement and contract documentation.

Desired Candidate Profile

A Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Project Management, or Business Administration.

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, compliance, and business processes for donor-funded projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing procurement and grant processes.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly with MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Experience in preparing budgets, financial reports, and monitoring of budgets and cash flows.
  • Ability to manage different reporting requirements across multi-currency donor projects.
  • Proven expertise with donor-funded projects
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
