Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


Teach Spanish and French across KS3-KS5

Teach a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and prepare Schemes of Work, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment.

Facilitate and encourage high quality learning which provides learners with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Deliver well-planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring that the needs of all learners are met.

Differentiate appropriately, using approaches that enable every learner to access the learning and make excellent progress.

Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge in all relevant areas.

Set learners challenging learning and developmental goals, and draw upon varied strategies, resources and technologies to support learners in achieving these goals.

Follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on pupils achievements and use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping.

Provide pupils with regular written and oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback as per policy.

Prepare and present regular displays of learners work around the school.

Take part on a residential trip where required.

Participate fully in the school s extra-curricular and school activities programme.

Take ownership for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within School

This is a full-time class teacher position. Specially recruited for overseas service appointees are not expected to return to the UK.

Person Specification

The following experience, skills, and qualifications are essential criteria for the role: Essential


To have a passion for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).

Experience of teaching French and Spanish up to Key Stage 5.

Strong specific knowledge of languages and a sound understanding of the French and Spanish curriculum.

Experience of teaching in a mainstream UK school

Qualifications and Requirements:

A good relevant honours degree and recognised teaching qualification, e.g. PGCE


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and successful completion of induction.

Evidence of qualification will be required at interview. All qualifications declared must be held at point of application and if applicable be in date.

Evidence of recent and relevant training or professional development applicable to the post

Evidence of qualifications will be required at interview. Equivalent qualifications will not be accepted.
