Overview

We are seeking a Gas Insulated Switchgear Engineer ( GIS ) to join the Power Systems Projects & Technical Support Department (PSP&TSD).

PSP&TSD is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco electrical power system generation, transmission and distribution networks.

As a Gas Insulated Switchgear Engineer you will be responsible to provide the technical support for the company with regards to designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation, investigations, etc.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:
  • Evaluate technical documents for design, engineering, manufacture, inspection, testing and performance of SF6 gas insulated metal-enclosed switchgears (GIS).
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on all critical equipment failures.
  • Continuous review of the High Voltages (HV) equipment maintenance programs to identify improvements to ensure the HV asset's safe and reliable operation.
  • Supports maintenance agency as required in reviewing spare parts list of existing equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating if the equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Provides technical engineering input on repair details and offers onsite technical support, especially for critical equipment for the process.
  • Provides engineering input for work packages to ensure Saudi Aramco standards and material specifications are followed.
  • Represent the organization in industry and profession organizations, users' group, which address or govern electrical codes and standards.
  • Review company standards and be familiar with international standards.

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will hold a:
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the area of GIS equipment specialism; such as: contribution in international conferences as GIS specialist or employment by leading GIS manufacturers.
  • Professional Engineer certification; such as: chartership or PE
  • Have technical design level insight in GIS Technology of minimum 69kV and higher.
  • Demonstrate an active role during in GIS commissioning as part of a projects or as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
  • Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) in a leading capacity.
  • Demonstrate depth of compliance with manufacturing standards such as IEC.
  • In-depth knowledge, experience, and recognition as a switchgear specialist include membership of international engineering bodies and contribution at international conferences.
  • Capable of assimilating and quickly applying newly acquired technical information.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities and seek opportunities to improve results and processes proactively, contributing to the goals, safety, and profitability of the company.
  • Possess strong technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills.
