Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs across the Facilities Management projects including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems. This role ensures that facilities and equipment are safe, functional, and well-maintained to support smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical to ensure optimal functionality.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards.
- Maintain and operate tools and machinery safely, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Document maintenance activities and track repairs using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and equipment to identify issues
- Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, fixtures and furniture
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Assist in setting up furniture, equipment, renovations as needed
Desired Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance or a similar role within a commercial or industrial setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
- Strong understanding of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, combined with a practical approach to repairs.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and clear reporting of maintenance issues.
- Proven experience as a General Maintenance Technician or in a similar role
- Hands-on experience with tools, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
