Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and major overhauls on diesel generators.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engine, alternator, and control panel faults.
  • Conduct routine oil, filter, and coolant changes as per manufacturer schedules.
  • Identify issues in fuel systems, wiring, sensors, and controllers (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp).
  • Overhaul engines, replace worn parts, and recalibrate systems to ensure efficient performance.

Installation & Commissioning

  • Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of generators at client sites or rental yards.
  • Perform load testing and voltage regulation checks to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure proper grounding, cable connections, and synchronization where applicable.

Field Service & Support

  • Respond promptly to breakdown calls, providing on-site service and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with operations for generator dispatch, setup, and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate service records and report faults and repairs to supervisors.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company and manufacturer safety protocols at all times.
  • Ensure all work complies with ISO, HSE, and quality standards.
  • Properly handle fuels, oils, batteries, and other hazardous materials.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Maintain job cards, maintenance logs, and inventory of tools and parts used.
  • Report recurring issues, spare part requirements, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with workshop supervisors, electricians, and logistics teams.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in generator maintenance, preferably with Perkins, Caterpillar, and Cummins brands.
  • Solid understanding of diesel engines, alternators, controllers, and synchronization systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and service manuals.
  • Experience in generator rental or construction site environments preferred.
  • Valid driving license (light vehicle or heavy equipment license preferred).
