Roles & Responsibilities
About the role
In a context of strengthening our activities in Yemen, you will be specifically in charge of ensuring high-quality programming in compliance with donors requirements and MdM national and global strategies. In addition, you will be responsible for the communication aspect of the mission and will represent the mission in the relevant forums.
What you ll do
Under the supervision of the deputy general coordinator in charge of programs, you are responsible of the following :
Management and capacity building
• Coordinate the recruitment of the national grants officer
• Line manage the grants officer, ensuring day-to-day supervision, clear objective setting, regular feedback and performance evaluations
• Implement a structured capacity-building approach to progressively strengthen technical skills and autonomy in grants management, reporting and donor compliance
• Contribute to the strengthening and sustainability of the grants & communication department
• Facilitate co-creation and inter-area coordination processes in the preparation of proposals and technical documents
• Ensure full coordination between the mission and headquarters for all matters related to grants and subsidies
Comprehensive formulation and design of proposals
• Lead the identification, structuring and drafting of large-scale proposals aimed at multilateral organisations, bilateral cooperation agencies and private sector actors committed to social investment
• Review, adapt and strengthen proposals submitted by field coordinators, adjusting technical language, strategic alignment and compliance with donor guidelines
• Coordinate key information gathering processes with technical, finance, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and operations areas to consolidate data in an accurate and verifiable manner
• Coordinate the dissemination and application of methodological standards in all formulations, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and institutional strategy
Advanced writing of reports and strategic documents
• Oversee the preparation of high-quality narrative and analytical reports for donors, presenting results, impacts and lessons learned with a focus on evidence and accountability
• Oversee and draft concept papers, strategic notes, project profiles (concept notes) and framework documents that position the organisation
Context analysis and strategic design
• Conduct in-depth research on political, socio-economic and sectoral contexts at the local, national and regional levels to identify trends, opportunities and programmatic risks
• Systematize quantitative and qualitative evidence from primary and secondary sources to substantiate the relevance and significance of proposals
Research and development of funding sources
• Develop a pipeline of opportunities and comparative financing analyses, evaluating feasibility, competitiveness, and institutional relevance
• Implement a strategic monitoring system for international calls for proposals, cooperation programmes, emerging donors and private social investment trends. Update the donor tracking table
Development and management of donors relationships
• Manage donor relations processes through constant communication, timely delivery of reports and development of visibility products
• Lead the planning of donor engagement strategies, establishing long-term relationships of trust that allow for the expansion and diversification of financial partnerships
Partnership agreement
• Lead the development of needed operational MoU, partnership agreements or amendments (e.g.: Ministry of Health, UNICEF, other INGO/local NGO or UN agency)
• Ensure proper and effective communication and collaboration with partners when included in a consortium
Communication
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the mission s communication and visibility strategy
• Ensure donor communication and visibility requirements are integrated into project design and reporting
• Support the production of high-quality communication materials highlighting program achievements and donor contributions
• Build staff capacity on communication standards and visibility obligations, in coordination with the HQ communication department
• Ensure consistency and compliance of all visibility materials across projects and platforms
Who you ll work with
You will directly manage the grants officer who is to be recruited.
You are the right match if you:
• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or significant experience as a grants officer
• Experience with MdM
• Have a high level of expertise in writing proposals/reports
• Have a strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, including the humanitarian system, donors landscape
• Speak English fluently, Arabic is highly appreciated
This role may not suit you if you:
• don't have any experience in coordinating and preparing strong narrative and financial reports for a variety of donors
• don't have knowledge of donor compliance, especially for GFFO, ECHO, CDCS and UN donors
• don't have any experience in developing and working with project budgets
• Are not aligned with MdM s values
