Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Warehouse & Assets Management to lead our warehousing operations and asset management functions of your Group. This senior leadership position requires an exceptional supply chain and logistics professional with extensive experience in managing large-scale warehouse operations, optimizing inventory management, and implementing world-class asset management practices. The successful candidate will drive operational efficiency, ensure optimal asset utilization, and establish best-in-class warehousing standards to support our organization's growth and service excellence objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Warehouse Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive warehouse and logistics strategies aligned with organizational objectives; drive warehouse modernization, automation initiatives, and operational excellence across all facilities.
- Warehouse Operations Management: Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns management across multiple facilities; ensure 99.5%+ operational accuracy and efficiency.
- Inventory Management & Control: Lead inventory management strategies including stock planning, replenishment, cycle counting, stock audits, and inventory optimization; minimize stock discrepancies, obsolescence, and damages while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Asset Management: Develop and implement comprehensive asset management frameworks including asset registration, tracking, maintenance planning, depreciation management, utilization optimization, and disposal of obsolete assets; manage asset portfolio valued at QAR 50-500+ million.
- Warehouse Systems & Technology: Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), barcode systems, and automation technologies to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Space & Layout Optimization: Design and optimize warehouse layouts, storage solutions, racking systems, and material flow to maximize space utilization, improve productivity, and reduce operational costs; implement 5S methodology and visual management techniques.
- Inventory Accuracy & Quality: Establish and enforce stringent quality control procedures, implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), and conduct regular quality audits to ensure inventory accuracy exceeding 99.5% and minimize product damage.
- Logistics & Distribution: Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics operations, transportation planning, route optimization, and last-mile delivery; manage relationships with 3PL providers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies.
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Oversee procurement of warehouse equipment, materials handling equipment (MHE), packaging materials, and services; manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Champion warehouse safety culture; ensure full compliance with Qatar Civil Defence requirements, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental standards; implement and monitor safety programs to achieve zero-accident operations.
- Warehouse Performance Management: Establish comprehensive KPIs for warehouse productivity, order accuracy, inventory turnover, space utilization, labor productivity, and cost per unit; implement continuous monitoring and improvement initiatives.
- Preventive Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment, material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor systems), storage infrastructure, and company assets to ensure operational reliability and longevity.
- Capacity Planning & Expansion: Conduct capacity analysis, forecast future warehouse requirements, and plan facility expansions or consolidations to support business growth and changing operational needs.
- Cost Management & Budgeting: Develop and manage warehouse and asset management budgets exceeding QAR 30 million; implement cost control measures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize operational expenses while maintaining service quality.
- Technology & Automation: Drive warehouse automation initiatives including automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyor systems, sorting systems, and robotics to improve efficiency and reduce manual handling.
- Customs & Documentation: Oversee customs clearance procedures, import/export documentation, and coordination with Qatar Customs Authority; ensure compliance with all trade regulations and free zone requirements where applicable.
- Performance Analytics & Reporting: Implement advanced analytics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to monitor warehouse performance, asset utilization, and operational metrics; provide regular reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and inspire a diverse team of 50-300+ warehouse professionals including supervisors, coordinators, warehouse operatives, and support staff; provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities; foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, operations, sales, customer service, and finance teams to ensure integrated supply chain operations; serve as the key liaison for warehouse and asset-related matters.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualifications
- Essential: Master's degree (MBA, M.Eng, or Master's in Supply Chain Management/Logistics/Operations Management) from a recognized university.
- Alternatively: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field with exceptional career progression and proven expertise.
- Professional Certifications Preferred:
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) - APICS
- Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) - APICS
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) - APICS
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) - ISM
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt
- Certified Warehouse Logistics Professional (CWLP)
Experience Requirements
- 15-20+ years of progressive experience in warehouse management, logistics, and asset management, with a minimum of 7-10 years in senior leadership positions such as Warehouse Director, Logistics Director, or VP Supply Chain.
- Proven track record managing large-scale warehouse operations with storage capacity exceeding 50,000 sqm and handling volumes of 10,000+ SKUs.
- Extensive experience in the Qatar market or GCC region, with demonstrated understanding of Qatar Customs procedures, free zone operations, and local logistics infrastructure.
- Strong background in industries such as logistics & distribution, 3PL, freight forwarding, manufacturing, FMCG, retail, pharmaceutical, automotive parts, or industrial equipment sectors.
- Experience managing multi-site warehouse operations and distribution networks.
- Demonstrated success in warehouse automation projects, WMS implementations, and operational transformation initiatives achieving 25-40% efficiency improvements.
- Experience with both ambient and temperature-controlled (cold chain) warehouse operations is advantageous.
