Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary
To fabricate, assemble, and repair GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) components for insulated panels, ensuring high-quality finishes and structural integrity according to industry standards. This role involves working with GRP materials, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining quality in support of production for CGS Standard Projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. GRP Fabrication
- Prepare and laminate GRP materials based on technical specifications.
- Use molds, tools, and resins to shape and assemble components.
2. Surface Preparation and Finishing
- Sand, trim, and smooth GRP surfaces for a professional finish.
- Ensure all edges and surfaces are defect-free for durability and aesthetics.
3. Component Assembly
- Assemble GRP parts accurately to meet design and structural requirements.
- Align and secure components with appropriate fastening techniques.
4. Repairs and Adjustments
- Repair defects and damages in GRP components through patching or re-lamination.
- Adjust fit and finish as needed to meet production standards.
5. Quality Control
- Inspect GRP parts for uniformity, strength, and compliance with specifications.
- Correct any defects before releasing for production.
6. Material Mixing and Application
- Prepare resins and hardeners with correct mix ratios and application techniques.
- Ensure strength and durability through proper mixing methods.
7. Equipment Maintenance
- Set up and maintain lamination and finishing tools (grinders, sanders, etc.).
- Ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
8. Safety Compliance
- Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE while working with chemicals and fiberglass.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
9. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain logs of work completed, materials used, and any quality/safety issues.
- Report production progress and issues to supervisors.
Qualifications
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of GRP fabrication, lamination, and finishing techniques.
- Awareness of safety procedures for handling fiberglass and resins.
- Familiarity with quality control standards in industrial GRP applications.
Core Competencies
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specifications.
- High attention to detail in fabrication and visual finishing.
- Physical ability to perform sanding, lamination, and component assembly.
Skills
- Basic Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) proficiency for documentation.
