Roles & Responsibilities

The Head of Academics – Engineering will lead the academic function within a vocational training institute, ensuring industry-relevant, competency-based program delivery. The role focuses on aligning training outcomes with employability standards, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving excellence in technical education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of engineering programs within a vocational (TVET) framework

  • Design, review, and continuously improve competency-based curricula aligned with industry requirements

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies, accreditation standards, and quality frameworks

  • Drive student outcomes including skill proficiency, certifications, and employability

  • Establish and strengthen industry partnerships for internships, on-the-job training (OJT), and placements

  • Monitor faculty/trainers’ performance and implement continuous professional development initiatives

  • Implement robust academic quality assurance systems and assessment standards

  • Support institutional growth through innovation in program offerings and delivery models

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Ph.D. preferred

  • 8–12 years of experience in technical education or vocational training, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role

  • Prior experience in TVET / skill-based training environments strongly preferred

  • Exposure to international or UAE-based regulatory frameworks (e.g., KHDA) is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities within a training environment

  • Deep understanding of competency-based education and vocational training frameworks

  • Expertise in curriculum development, assessments, and academic quality assurance

  • Strong industry orientation with the ability to translate workforce needs into training programs

  • Excellent communication, planning, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to drive student employability, industry engagement, and outcome-based learning

  • Strategic mindset with strong execution and operational oversight
