Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Title:
- Head of Calibration and Maintenance Department
Division:
- Calibration Department
I-Function:
- To calibrate, operate, and repair electrical, mechanical, and recording instruments, apparatus, and equipment
in his working area.
- To operate and perform calibration for all testing equipment.
- To ensure that all used equipment are calibrated, accurate and give proper readings according to documented
procedures.
II- Reporting to:
- Country Manager/Area Manager
- Laboratory Manager
III- Supervising:
- Calibration technicians.
IV- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintain equipment, follow up inventory and updates the list of equipment in the company.
- Performs internal and external calibrations of electronic, mechanical, physical/dimensional and measurement
equipment, such as, compression machines, balances, digital multimeters, thermometers, sieves, ovens,
furnace, thermocouples, pressure gauges, calipers, micrometers, tensile steel machines, etc.
- Calibrates of equipment on site in order to ensure compliance with published specifications such as calibration
of concrete batch plants.
- Calibrates the tools and equipment used for material testing and quality control in different industries.
- Ensuring the reference equipment used for calibration is best maintained and calibrated as per international
standard in ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratories.
- Preparing plans for calibration of internal equipment and customers’ equipment to ensure that all equipment
are calibrated on periodic basis.
- Prepares and follow up the maintenance plan for company’s equipment
- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of precision equipment.
- Implements calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, and other technical
requirements.
- Preparing of standard operating procedure related to calibration.
- Collects, compiles, measures, summarizes, and records data gathered during calibration.
- Identifies all equipment which is out-of-tolerance conditions and performs corrective action via adjustments,
component replacement, correction factors, etc.
- Identifies and corrects measurement errors, as identified by the related standards.
- Prepares calibration reports and certificates.
- Performs uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement
processes.
- Trains subordinate in calibration concepts and procedures.
- Interacts with all other heads of departments and customers.
- Maintains a clean working environment.
- Works according to the company Quality management system.
- Other duties as assigned.
V- Cooperation and Contact:
- With the Quality Manager, Quality officer, and auditors from the company and with other auditors as directed
by Laboratory Manager.
- With other staff in site Laboratories.
- Occasionally with other staff in the Laboratories and other departments.
- With clients, suppliers and subcontractors at all levels as directed by the Laboratory Manager and/or the Head
of calibration department.

VI- Qualification:
Education and Experience:
- (TS) in Mechanic or Electromechanical Diploma with a minimum of five years related experience in laboratory
testing equipment used for construction materials.
- Good knowledge of ISO 17025 standard requirements and / or of the Quality Management system adopted in
the company; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Competency with calibration software.
Language Ability : (Arabic, English)
- Arabic: Read, Spoken and Written
- English: Read, Spoken and Written
Skills:
- Ability to solve mechanical problems and equipment failure.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is
needed.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decisionmaking.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Average skills to write technical reports.
- Ability to travel when required.
