Head of Inventory Finance

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the inventory finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Develop and implement robust inventory accounting policies and procedures in line with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
• Oversee inventory valuation (FIFO, WAC), reconciliations, and adjustments to ensure accuracy across financial statements.
• Ensure regular reconciliation between physical stock and SAP system records, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
• Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and operations teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs.
• Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory aging, provisions, and obsolescence.
• Identify risks and opportunities related to inventory finance and recommend strategic initiatives to enhance margins.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, including Segregation of Duties.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance inventory tracking and financial accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance; a professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) is highly preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership role managing inventory, with a strong background in accounting and inventory control.
• Proven experience in the Retail industry is essential.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and ERPs, with SAP experience preferred.
• Deep understanding of inventory accounting principles, costing methods, and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• High attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to corporate governance and audit processes.
