Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Drive the legal support strategy and implementing the directions and processes required to provide a robust, timely, commercially-minded and risk-focused commercial support team.

Devise legal strategy to efficiently support business initiatives whilst ensuring business protection against legal compliance risks.

Assess and communicate technical legal risks and recommendations in a commercial context.

Deliver optimal legal solutions and ensure that legal resources are efficiently and effectively deployed to achieve business results.

Be part of Reckitt s Global Legal team of legal professionals and support staff based in a number of locations worldwide. The candidate must be reactive and collaborative with their functional colleagues to provide excellent legal advice and support.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Develop and implement compliance strategies covering competition law, sanctions, bribery, data privacy, and product safety while supporting investigations and regulatory reporting.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Lead litigation management, ensuring robust defense strategies and risk-focused legal advice for business operations. Ensure that cases are adequately defended before quasi-judicial forums.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, distribution agreements, and legal process improvements to enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Corporate Governance & Company Secretariat: Manage corporate secretarial matters, board meetings, regulatory compliance, and multi-jurisdictional corporate projects. Lead ENA company secretarial liaison with global company secretary function, manage OGM, EOGM, Board of Directors meetings. Manage company registrations (e.g. Directors) and corporate certifications (e.g. incorporation certifications).
  • Intellectual Property & Brand Protection: Support global brand protection and IP functions, managing trademark renewals, anti-counterfeit enforcement, and legal strategies working collaboratively with the Global Legal IP functions.
  • Advertising & Marketing Law: Act as the key legal advisor on marketing claims, advertising compliance, and sponsorship approvals, ensuring regulatory alignment.
  • Regulatory & Government Liaison: Serve as the lead legal contact for relevant authorities on compliance, corporate, and marketing matters.
  • Strategic Legal Leadership: Provide legal guidance on high-impact corporate initiatives, collaborating with finance, tax, and supply chain teams.
  • Operational Legal Excellence: Standardize legal templates, tools, and processes to optimize legal operations across ENA.

Desired Candidate Profile

Flexible and ability to communicate proper, commercial legal solutions in a very wide range of solutions, and not just spotting problems, barriers or obstacles.

Provide commercially relevant and pragmatic solutions that help achieve business goals.

Work effectively hands on in a lean, cost-focused, efficiently managed and fast-moving organisation.

Be a team player and demonstrate excellent cross-functional and inter-personal skills including proficiency in English, which is Reckitt s working language.

Be able to work with senior management directly in a clear, concise, and pragmatic way.

Be independent and able to work with autonomy.

Show ability to understand and act on legal implications, which may not be apparent to those without the expertise, and communicate those implications effectively to internal stakeholders.

Have a sound analytical ability to assess potential risks, flag them and build adequate safeguard to avoid negative implications is a necessity.

Maintain sensitivity in dealing with colleagues and stakeholders including regulators.

Qualified lawyer with 10+ years post qualification experience in Egypt and North African markets.

Possess leadership experience and relevant post graduate qualifications.

Native proficiency in Arabic is a must.

In-house work experience in consumer goods/retails/etc is an advantage.

Demonstrate strong legal competencies in:Core areas of contract law, corporate and foreign direct investment, commercial law, intellectual property and compliance matters such as bribery laws, sanctions, competition law and data privacy;

Good awareness of labour and employment matters, product liability and factory-related laws; and marketing, advertising & litigation experience
