Roles & Responsibilities

King s College Doha is seeking an outstanding Head of Psychology for August 2026 to lead and develop the subject across the Mesaimeer Campus from Year 10 to Year 13. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate educator to shape a forward-thinking Psychology department within a high-performing British international school.

The successful candidate will deliver and develop Pearson Edexcel GCSE Psychology and International A Level Psychology, inspiring students through innovative teaching, rigorous academic standards, and a culture of excellence. A strong focus on A Level Psychology and curriculum leadership is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear strategic leadership for the Psychology Department, setting ambitious goals and driving continuous improvement.

  • Inspire, mentor, and support departmental staff through effective line management, appraisal, and professional development.

  • Lead the design, review, and ongoing development of a rigorous and engaging Psychology curriculum aligned with the school s vision.

  • Monitor teaching quality and student outcomes to ensure consistently high standards and excellent progress.

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver high-quality Psychology teaching across Senior School and Sixth Form.

  • Motivate students to achieve their full potential, fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and a genuine passion for Psychology.

  • Embed innovative teaching strategies, effective marking and feedback, and a strong growth-mindset culture.

  • Prepare students thoroughly for external examinations, including Pearson Edexcel GCSE and International A Level Psychology.

Curriculum and Department Development

  • Contribute to the Departmental Development Plan alongside the Head of Faculty.

  • Ensure effective use of departmental budgets and resources.

  • Develop enrichment opportunities such as clubs, competitions, and educational visits.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents and senior leaders.

  • Analyse assessment data and implement strategies to secure outstanding outcomes.

  • Ensure strong vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment across year groups.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Excellent working knowledge of GCSE and International A Level Psychology.(E)

  • High levels of subject knowledge.(E)

  • Minimum of two years relevant teaching experience.(E)

  • Proven experience teaching GCSE and A Level Psychology.(E)

  • A good degree in Psychology or a related subject.(E)

  • A recognised teaching qualification.(E)

  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to command respect.(E)

  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills.(E)

  • Ability to inspire students and stretch the most able while supporting all learners.(E)

  • Commitment to contributing fully to school life.(E)

  • Positive, resilient, and collaborative approach with a strong work ethic.(E)

  • Experience working with EAL learners.(D)

  • Experience in the independent school sector.(D)
