Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Departmental Leadership: Provide strategic leadership for the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and academic attainment across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

  • Curriculum Management: Oversee the delivery and development of the Cambridge (IGCSE/A-Level) Mathematics curriculum, ensuring alignment with international standards and school goals.

  • Academic Performance Tracking: Micro-analyze student data and examination results to implement targeted intervention strategies and raise overall department performance.

  • Staff Mentorship: Lead, manage, and observe a diverse team of Math teachers, providing constructive feedback and coordinating professional development to ensure pedagogical excellence.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular work scrutinies, lesson observations, and moderation of assessments to maintain consistency and rigor within the department.

  • Resource Allocation: Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, integrating modern Educational Technology (EdTech) to enhance student engagement.

  • Parental Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for departmental inquiries, fostering strong relationships with parents regarding student progress and curriculum pathways.

  • Policy Compliance: Ensure all departmental practices comply with Oman Ministry of Education (MOE) regulations and school safeguarding policies.

Desired Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) OR Bachelor in Mathematics + PGCE (teaching qualification) minimum

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience, leadership experience highly desirable

  • Strong background in secondary mathematics, IGCSE/A-Level preferred

  • Proven ability to lead a department, manage staff, and drive academic results

  • Positive nature & supportive member of staff

  • Willing to positively work towards our goal of being one of the leading schools in Oman


Preferred Criteria:

  • Experience in curriculum planning and departmental strategy

  • 5 years teaching experience, with leadership experience

  • Track record of improving student outcomes in Maths

  • Experience with international examinations: Cambridge/Edexcel

  • Strong data analysis and performance monitoring skills

  • Ability to mentor and develop teaching staff

  • Experience with British or international curriculum

  • Experience with EAL (English as an Additional Language) students

  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities

  • Living in Sur – appreciation for outdoor, community-based lifestyle
