Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To lead Repton s Secondary School with clarity, ambition, and integrity building on strong foundations to further strengthen teaching quality, student experience, belonging, and academic outcomes.

The Head Teacher ensures that:

  • students experience challenging, inspiring, and carefully sequenced learning;
  • Repton remains a school where students and staff are proud to be, and proud to belong;
  • families feel listened to, informed, and confident in the school s direction;
  • teaching, curriculum, safeguarding, behaviour, and operations run to consistently high standards;
  • the Secondary School contributes visibly to Repton s identity as a flagship British independent school in the GCC.

Leadership Responsibilities Overview

Leading Strategically

Strengthen Secondary strategy aligned with SIP and Repton pillars

Use academic and pastoral data to drive improvement

Maintain inspection readiness (KHDA/BSO)

Communicate expectations clearly and consistently

Leading Pastoral Care & Safeguarding

Strengthen belonging, behaviour and culture

Lead safeguarding as DSL

Embed meaningful student leadership pathways

Leading Teaching & Learning

Ensure teaching is challenging, inspiring and aligned to Repton s framework

Strengthen curriculum coherence and progression

Lead exam readiness, moderation and interventions

Promote literacy, oracy and numeracy across subjects

Leading Professional Learning

Build a strong culture of professional learning

Strengthen HoD/HOY leadership capacity

Model visibility and clarity

Ensure high-quality feedback culture

Leading with Impact

Oversee all Secondary data cycles

Lead review processes (QA, walkthroughs, book looks)

Monitor the impact of interventions

Report clearly to the Principal & Governors

Person Specification

Essential

Successful senior leadership experience in a high-performing UK or international school.

Demonstrated impact on improving teaching, curriculum, and student outcomes.

Strong understanding of the English National Curriculum, GCSE, and post-16 pathways.

Excellent judgement, communication, and organisational clarity.

Commitment to evidence-led leadership and strong safeguarding practice.

Professional Growth & Review

Annual leadership goals aligned with SIP and Repton s three pillars.

Three structured leadership coaching conversations per year.

Annual review against leadership impact, culture, outcomes, and strategic delivery.
