Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs aligned with industry best practices and legal requirements, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify potential dangers and proactively mitigate risks before incidents occur.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to employees on safety procedures, regulations, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Stay abreast of evolving health and safety legislation, industry standards, and emerging hazards, updating programs and procedures accordingly.
  • Manage and maintain safety records, including incident reports, training logs, and inspection results, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with management, supervisors, and employees to foster a strong safety culture and promote proactive safety behaviors.
  • Oversee the selection, procurement, and maintenance of safety equipment and supplies, ensuring their proper functionality and availability.
  • Prepare and present safety reports, data analysis, and recommendations to management, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and other external stakeholders on all health and safety matters.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundational knowledge.
  • Holds relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or a similar credential, showcasing professional expertise.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, with a proven track record of success in a similar industry.
  • Exhibits a deep understanding of industry-specific safety regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance.
  • Displays proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and incident investigations, demonstrating analytical skills.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective training, collaboration, and influence.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and projects.
  • Exhibits the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and a commitment to workplace safety.
  • Proficient in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite, showcasing technical competency.
