Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide assistance and advice on EHS issues to make recommendations to Group Operations Officer.

2. Conducts regular risk assessment for all school activities. Develop, implement and administer security, safety policy and procedures to ensure the safe environment for students and staff.

3. Raising EHS matters and issues to the School Principal / senior management on behalf of the employees.

4. Support Group Operations Officer with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective EHS policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the department objectives are met.

5. Plan and conduct regular meetings and awareness of EHS requirements.

6. Leading the EHS inspection program

7. Leading investigation of EHS issues or incidents and involving ADEC EHS Section in the investigation of reportable incidents.

8. Ensuring the implementation of EHS Requirement for all contractors having access to school.

9. Facilitating the completion of the annual EHS assessment

10. Attending mandatory EHS training and EHS committee meetings.

11. Maintain and updates all EHS procedures and policies in compliance as per the applicable laws and regulation.

12. Maintain and update relevant EHS logs and documentation/reports.

13. Carry out routine inspections and ensure regular calibration of various safety and lifesaving equipment, etc.

14. Provide support to Operations team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, and safety and environment issues. Ensure all maintenance team wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.

15. To oversee and lead the Security Team (In-house and outsourced securities) in the implementation of Company’s Security and Safety Management System.

16. Monitor housekeeping program to consistently improve its standards in facilities. Inspect all surrounding areas for cleanliness and follow up actions which may be required.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

- Prepares EHS Annual Activity Calendar, such as:

o Inspection schedule

o Training & awareness programs

o Mock Drills

- Conduct safety induction program for new staff.

- Identify training requirements through Training Needs Analysis.

Conduct regular briefing with the security personnel to ensure protocols are practiced

- Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.

- Ensures preparation and implementation of School Safety and Health Plan.

- Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work plan.

- Review the Incident Action Plans for safety implications.

- Exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts.

- Communicate frequently with line managers & management to report on the status of occupational health and safety programs.

- Write, implement, and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures.

- Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE

- Oversee Waste Management and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation such as manifest collection and other supporting document)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

- Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment.

- Oversee Waste Reduction Plan. Maintain documentation record and report to Center of Waste Management.

- Keep record of staff information of the external contractors/agencies (e.g. Security Guards, Cleaning Staff, External technicians.)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and related EHS programs and procedures.

2. Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate to consensus in a team environment.

3. Remain calm in an emergency situation

4. Read and write in English at a level sufficient to successfully perform required duties

5. Understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner

6. Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the required duties

7. Establish and maintain positive and proactive with managers, staff members as well as our customers and other external agencies.

Qualification

· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree

· Certification in NEBOSH

· Member of IOSH.

· Minimum 2 years relevant experience as Safety Officer or relevant.

· Strong passion in EHS

· Good MS Office skills (Excel, Word and Power point)

· Able to work independently and meticulously.
