Job Description

The Healthcare Billing Executive (IP) plays a critical role in managing the financial integrity of healthcare facilities. This role is specifically focused on the Inpatient (IP) department, and it involves overseeing all aspects of billing and collection processes associated with patient services. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and an aptitude for working with complex billing systems and regulations. They are responsible for ensuring that all billing is accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant healthcare policies and regulations. As a key member of the financial team, the Healthcare Billing Executive (IP) must communicate effectively with various stakeholders including patients, insurance companies, and department heads to resolve billing discrepancies and improve collection rates. This position requires a blend of technical billing skills, analytical thinking, and in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry s financial practices.


Responsibilities
  • Accurately generate and manage inpatient billing for healthcare services provided.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in all billing processes.
  • Collaborate with insurance companies to clarify billing details and ensure timely reimbursements.
  • Review patient medical records to verify completeness and consistency of billing data.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and changes affecting billing activities.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and provide clear explanations to patients and families.
  • Analyze billing cycle processes to identify areas of improvement for efficiency.
  • Train and support junior billing staff on accurate billing procedures and use of systems.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and summaries for management review.
  • Liaise with clinical staff to resolve any issues relating to patient billing information.
  • Develop and implement billing strategies to enhance revenue collection rates.
  • Monitor and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to ensure payment resolution.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare billing, particularly in inpatient settings.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing regulations and healthcare insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in using billing software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail for financial data management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
