Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The fire truck driver is part of the emergency team and is required to safely drive the fire truck with a timely response to emergency. He will be part of the Emergency Response Team and hence is required to work as emergency responder (firefighter, rescuer and oil or chemical spills responder). He is required to work during company allocated work hours, however should attend emergencies during off duty hours when required. Following are the additional responsibilities for this position:

  • Complete daily fire truck and equipment checks and document completion (check list).
  • Take part in continuous training and learning programs by attending lectures, exercises, simulated incidents, practice drill sessions and other forms of training to achieve and maintain competence levels.
  • Clean and maintain bunker gear and keep it ready for use.
  • Able to use and maintain SCBA.
  • The driver shall be obligated to clean and maintain the emergency vehicle (fire truck included) and submit reports to his direct official in the event of a malfunction or loss and report the problem if any.
  • Fire truck drivers will be responsible for being familiar with all topographical routes in WQ1
  • Complete all monthly PM inspection and test on time.
  • Driving fire trucks and emergency trucks inside and outside the field and adhering to the specified speed, when responding to accidents or otherwise.
  • Commit and undertake to learn and undertake:
    • Learn about the types of fire pumps and their theory of operation.
    • Knowledge of the different suction and pumping systems.
    • Preparing and operating fire pumps.
    • Pumping water from the fire hydrants to the fire trucks and then to the place of the fire in the appropriate quantity and pressure.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Completed at least Year 12 school certificate or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid (Heavy Goods Vehicle) HGV driver s license.
  • Possess a valid 3 rd party medical fitness certificate i>This criteria will be checked before hiring/i>
  • Minimum 3 years experience and above for driving heavy vehicles and preferably fire truck specialized equipment)
  • Possess a basic understanding of heavy vehicles mechanics and troubleshooting
  • Have a knowledge about the basic of firefighting and fire truck driver responsibilities especially dealing with oil and gas fires
  • Knowledge of radio/mobile usage and having good communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic, both verbally and in writing
  • Effective written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports

Preferred

  • Previous experience with emergency services.
  • Previous experience to operate heavy equipment and pumps.
  • English language and PC skills knowledge would be an advantage.
