Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maneuver heavy trucks, ensuring compliance with all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying any mechanical issues and ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy.
- Transport goods and materials efficiently, adhering to delivery schedules and maintaining accurate logs of mileage and fuel consumption.
- Load and unload cargo as necessary, using proper techniques to prevent damage and injury.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and other drivers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
- Manage paperwork related to shipments, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and other necessary documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck interior and exterior to promote a professional image.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations governing transportation.
- Monitor weather and road conditions, adjusting routes and driving practices accordingly to ensure safety.
- Attend training sessions and maintain certifications as required to stay updated with industry standards and practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in heavy truck operation is a plus.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record and endorsements as required.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience driving heavy trucks, preferably in a similar industry.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic repair skills to address minor issues on the road.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage for client interactions.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries and efficient route planning.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure, especially in adverse conditions.
