Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Consultant will be responsible for the surgical management of complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic conditions including hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic tumors, biliary tract diseases, liver metastases, gallbladder malignancies, pancreatic cystic lesions, and complex benign HPB disorders.

Perform advanced open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures including liver resections, pancreatic resections, biliary reconstruction, minimally invasive hepatobiliary procedures, and robotic pancreatic surgeries.

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and perioperative management while ensuring optimal clinical outcomes and patient safety.

Work closely with gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, interventional radiologists, hepatologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary tumor boards to provide integrated and patient-centered care.

Lead and contribute to the development of robotic surgery pathways, enhanced recovery protocols, and evidence-based HPB clinical programs aligned with international standards.

Participate actively in tumor boards, morbidity and mortality meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance activities, and accreditation processes.

Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, and operating theatre teams while contributing to academic teaching, research, and continuous medical education programs.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Department of Health regulations and hospital policies while ensuring the highest standards of ethics, patient safety, and surgical excellence.

Support the hospital s strategic vision in establishing itself as a regional center of excellence in robotic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.

Desired Candidate Profile

Davidson Management Consultants have been mandated to recruit a western trained, native Arabic speaking Consultant Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgeon for their client in Abu Dhabi, UAE which is a leading tertiary care hospital with an advanced hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and robotic surgery program.We are looking for Tier 1 Board Certified, Fellowship trained surgeons with Western qualifications such as ABMS (USA), CCT/CCST (UK), RCPSC (Canada), or equivalent credentials recognized by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, with advanced Fellowship training and expertise in Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and Robotic Surgery.
