Roles & Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Provide expert consultant-level emergency care, including management of major trauma and critically ill patients
  • Ensure 24/7 delivery of safe, high-quality emergency medical services
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary trauma and resuscitation teams

Departmental Leadership & Management

  • Serve as Head of Department, with full responsibility for clinical governance, workforce planning, and departmental performance
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, protocols, and clinical pathways in line with international standards
  • Oversee staffing models, rostering, credentialing, and performance management

Governance, Quality & Safety

  • Lead clinical governance, risk management, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulatory requirements and international accreditation standards (e.g., JCI)
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive operational efficiency

Education & Training

  • Provide mentorship, supervision, and leadership to consultant, specialist, and junior medical staff
  • Support ongoing education, simulation training, and credentialing in emergency and trauma care

Strategic Development

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and future development of Emergency Medicine services
  • Collaborate with hospital executive leadership on service expansion and innovation

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Australian or US residency trained Emergency Medicine Consultant
  • Board-certified / fellowship-trained in Emergency Medicine
  • Extensive experience in high-acuity emergency care and trauma management
  • Demonstrated leadership and Head of Department level experience (or readiness for HOD role)
  • Strong background in clinical governance, quality, and patient safety
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification
  • Eligibility for consultant licensing with the relevant UAE health authority (DHA or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills
