Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Compliance and Regulatory Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, national, and international HSE regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE laws and standards relevant to chemical processing.
  • Prepare and manage all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory submissions.
2. Health & Safety Management
  • Implement and monitor occupational health and safety programs (e.g., PPE, confined space entry, lockout/tag out, chemical exposure).
  • Lead risk assessments (JSA, HAZOP, LOPA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure controls for hazardous substances.
3. Environmental Management
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, wastewater treatment, and hazardous waste handling.
  • Track and report environmental KPIs, support sustainability initiatives where applicable.
4. Incident & Emergency Response
  • Lead or support investigations of incidents, near-misses, and safety violations, perform root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and regularly test emergency response plans for chemical spills, fires, or other critical events.
5. Audits, Inspections & Reporting
  • Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections of plants areas, equipment, and processes.
  • Prepare reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), lead/lagging metrics, and safety trends.
6. Training & Culture
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and proactive hazard identification.
7. Team Coordination
  • Supervise HSE team, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, HR and all other concerned teams to integrate HSE into daily operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of HSE experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred in a chemical manufacturing or process industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical process safety, hazardous materials regulations, and emergency response planning, Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plans (RMP).
  • NEBOSH / OHSA or other professional certifications are a plus.
