Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Administer and maintain IBM WebMethods ESB ecosystem, including Integration Server, Universal Messaging, Trading Networks, API Gateway, and adapters.
Manage ESB node clustering, high-availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, JVM tuning, and resource optimization to ensure continuous uptime and peak performance.
Perform platform patching, upgrades, and license management with minimal disruption.
Manage ESB deployments via CI/CD, implementing deployment standards, environment parity, rollback plans, and coordinating with development and QA teams.
Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging for real-time visibility; define SLAs and proactively address performance issues.
Harden ESB platform per banking security standards, enforce RBAC, audit logging, data masking, and conduct security reviews to ensure compliance (PCI-DSS, GDPR, banking regulations).
Act as escalation point for production incidents, lead root cause analysis, maintain incident response documentation, and implement corrective actions.
Design and validate backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans, ensuring compliance with RTO/RPO and regular failover testing.
Core ESB Platform:
Extensive experience with IBM WebMethods (Software AG) including installation, Integration Server administration, Universal Messaging/Broker management, API Gateway setup, platform clustering, load balancer integration, and session affinity for multi-node deployments. Proficient with WebMethods Optimize, Monitor, and MWS for dashboard and analytics.
Banking Systems & Integration:
Knowledge of core banking (Equation), enterprise archiving (Laserfiche), and card management (Cortex) systems, focusing on ESB interface stability, document handling, performance tuning, and understanding end-to-end banking integration impacts.
Messaging & Middleware:
Expert in enterprise messaging with queue/topic management, durable subscriptions, message persistence, large payload handling, and protocol bridging (MQ, HTTP/S, FTP, SOAP, REST). Familiar with banking messaging standards like ISO 8583, SWIFT, FIX, and flat-file exchanges.
Systems & Database Administration:
Strong Linux/Windows server admin skills, shell scripting, performance tuning, plus database management for JDBC, connection pooling, and query optimization (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server). Experienced with scheduling tools and storage configurations for high-volume ESB logging.
Security & Networking:
Skilled in enterprise security for integration platforms including digital certificate lifecycle, keystore/truststore management, firewall coordination, VPNs, and knowledge of OAuth 2.0, SAML, LDAP/AD integration, and API security policies on WebMethods API Gateway or similar.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- IBM WebMethods (Software AG) administration or infrastructure certification, (Preferred)
- Relevant platform certifications in Linux/Windows administration, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), or banking technology operations. (Preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive experience in middleware or integration platform administration, with at least 3 years in a dedicated ESB administration role.
- Proven operational experience supporting ESB or enterprise middleware platforms within the banking or financial services sector, ideally in 24/7 mission-critical environments.
- Direct hands-on experience administering WebMethods in contexts involving core banking migrations, high-volume transactional messaging, or regulatory compliance mandates.
- Prior exposure to Equation, Laserfiche, Cortex, or analogous banking systems from an operational/infrastructure perspective is highly desirable.
