Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, motors, valves, and electrical control panels.
- Integrate fire suppression controls with Building Automation Systems (BAS), PLCs, and SCADA platforms.
- Develop and maintain control logic, HMI interfaces, and alarm protocols to ensure rapid and reliable system response.
- Conduct functional testing, commissioning, and performance verification of fire suppression controls.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 72, 2001, 13), local codes, and client specifications.
- Collaborate with fire protection engineers to interpret system schematics, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations.
- Maintain documentation including control narratives, panel layouts, and as-built drawings.
- Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and emergency response drills.
- Train maintenance staff and operators on system functionality and troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain logs and submit reports on station performance and maintenance.
- Document system changes and maintains accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and industrial networking.
- Familiarity with fire alarm panels, releasing panels, and integration with suppression systems.
- Strong understanding of NFPA codes and UL/FM-listed fire protection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, control schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex system issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with teams and documenting work.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Fire Protection Technology, or related field.
- 3 5 years of experience in industrial controls, preferably with fire suppression systems.
- NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems or Special Hazards Systems.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.
- Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Kidde, Ansul, Fike, Siemens fire systems).
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license
- Must be able to pass a favorable national agency check (NAC)
