INFORMATION SECURITY AND DATA PROTECTION EXPERT / SR.EXPERT asyad

Job purpose

This role serves as the second line of defense by providing independent oversight of the adequacy and effectiveness of technology security controls (including operational technology and information technology) and data protection practices across the Group and its subsidiaries. The role ensures that appropriate frameworks, controls, and compliance mechanisms are in place without duplication or conflict with the responsibilities of the technology and operations teams.

Main responsibilities

Strategic responsibilities

Develop and implement a roadmap for implementing information security and data protection compliance at the group level.Aligning security and privacy frameworks with Omani regulations, international standards, business objectives, and Asyad’s global presence.Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and the Board of Directors on emerging risks in cybersecurity and the adequacy of operational technology, information technology, and privacy controls.Contribute to the risk management and business continuity strategy by identifying gaps in security and data protection.Monitor and evaluate external threats, regulatory developments, and industry trends to support strategic decision-making.

Leadership responsibilities

Provide oversight and independence in assessing and challenging technology teams and business units while maintaining positive and non-interference collaboration.Promote a culture of compliance, security awareness, and responsibility at all levels within the organization.Lead the design and implementation of awareness and training programs related to information security and data protection.Represent the Governance, Risk and Compliance function in steering committees, audits, and board meetings addressing cybersecurity and privacy issues.Enhance collaboration and alignment between Governance, Risk and Compliance, Technology, Legal, and Operations departments while maintaining the independence of the second line of defense
