Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Implements approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.

Adherence to the department policies, processes and procedures

Analyzes performance of Instrumentation systems and provides recommendations. Assist in making vendor contracts and makes reports.

Smooth flow of day-to-day systems and Instrumentation activities.

Assists with maintenance activities of Control Systems and Instruments in the plant

Establishes procedures and instructions required for calibration and maintenance of instruments according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

Witness / Tests newly installed Control systems and Instruments to ensure to fulfil requirement of vendor specifications.

Reviews with vendor for required spares & services to ensure the instruments / system maintenance is not delayed because of lack of spare parts.

Participates in the decisions of replacing Instruments by giving technical evaluations.

Records and analyzes causes of Instruments failure and recommends long-term remedy solutions.

Perform engineering analysis and develop recommendations and alternatives in the solution of complex problems related to process control units in facilities such as Yokogawa and Emerson systems.

Review and participate in the SCADA designs, ESD designs, Cause & Effects reviews and lead activities related to pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Conduct Reviews of Control Narratives, Cause & Effects reviews and deliver associated reports.

Witness field-testing of installed instrumentation and confirm readings and test values.

Work with the Operations teams to investigate and troubleshoot all types of control systems and instrumentation.

Lead the investigation team and conduct root cause analysis for ESD, DCS, compressor control and condition monitoring, as well as field instrumentation and devices.

Develop the required technical studies, reports and reviews of all types of control systems and instrumentation.

Provide all engineering technical support to maintain DCS systems, PLCs, and ESD Triconex system.

Assess plant facilities and process arrangements and recommend new installations or modifications to improve plant control performance or replacement of defective/obsolete control equipment systems.

Assess the plant safety integrity level and recommend new installations or modifications to improve plant safety performance.

Develop KPIs for DCS and auxiliary control systems in terms of reliability and efficiency.

Communicate with vendors and technical consultants to resolve technical issues regarding upgrades, system performance or reliability, as well as new installations.

Mentor and transfer technical knowledge and skills to entry level engineers.

Evaluate and analyse critical equipment and spares MTBE (Mean Time between Failures).

Consistency in the general provisions.

Vendor evaluation and providing recommendations.

Responsible for reliability of Instruments and systems

Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests.

Compliance with work instruction and plans.

Equipment downtime within specified standards.

Contribution to procedures and maintenance instructions updates.

Equipment availability is maintained

Production targets achievements

Plant safety and integrity

Preparation of accurate technical evaluation reports for the Department in order to meet Department requirements, policies and standards.

Key information captured accurately and presented to decision-makers in a timely manner

Ensures compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures across the Company in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment

Participates adheres across company to HSSE Code of Conduct and actively participates in promoting the use of risk assessments

Participates in safety, health and environmental programs

Participates in incident investigation and provide technical expertise as required, understanding of system causes and development of recommendations to avoid recurrence.

Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Electronics engineering.

6 - 8 years of experience.
