Roles & Responsibilities


Main responsibilities:

  • Meet assigned targets related to maintenance, reliability, availability and operational performance.
  • Ensure the health, safety and security of all field assets and personnel.
  • Interact with technical committees, taskforces and work teams to study highly specialised issues related to production facilities.
  • Help identify areas experiencing technical problems with instrumentation and participate in initiating action plans to address them.
  • Cooperate in defining appropriate spare part procurement policies.
  • Support the procurement of instrumentation equipment replacements and modifications.
  • Manage internal relationships.
  • Provide direction and guidance on on-site human resources practices.
  • Manage interactions and relationships with local communities.
  • Complete and record proof testing of Safety & Environmental Critical Equipment (SECE) to ensure compliance with performance standards. Record any failures and ensure remedial work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all activities are fully and accurately recorded in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as SAP.
  • Ensure the team has a safe working environment through compliance with, and regular review of, procedures including task instructions, permits-to-work, task risk assessments and toolbox talks.

Skills and experience required:

  • Qualification in Instrument and Control, or Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Technical Institute level.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive operations and maintenance experience in the petroleum industry, including production operations, with knowledge of plant inspection, instrument loop checking, analysers, transmitters, fire and gas systems, APC, DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, and plant commissioning.
  • In-depth understanding of oil and gas production equipment, processes and utility systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire and gas systems and instrumentation; control valves and controllers; metering; pressure, level and temperature transmitters and controllers; loop control and tuning; instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting; gas engine controls and instrumentation; generator controls and instrumentation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Production Operations: oil and gas facilities and equipment.
  • Maintenance Operations: maintenance management, preventive and corrective maintenance, instrumentation maintenance, telecommunication maintenance, electrical maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintenance Engineering: CMMS activities, maintenance system auditing, maintenance advisory during project phases, reliability and availability analysis techniques, and maintenance systems and policies.
  • Specialist Knowledge: engineering expertise in instrumentation activities.
  • Organisational Processes: internal standards, feedback development and dissemination, technical audits and design reviews and documentation management.
  • Support and Technologies: best practices and international standards
  • Compliance: local, national and international standards and codes; health, safety, environment and quality.
  • Data Management and Informatics Tools.

You will be responsible for ensuring and managing the implementation of instrumental maintenance activities in the field, in compliance with relevant standards, policies, and procedures. Your objective will be to maximise production efficiency while minimising overall maintenance costs - including production downtime, spare parts and manpower. You will coordinate closely with the production team to guarantee the prompt, safe and environmentally compliant execution of all maintenance activities.
