Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Instrumentation plays a vital role in the oil and gas industry, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The Instrument Team Lead and Supervisor are key positions responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and management of instrumentation systems and provider leadership and support to the team.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team on I&C strategies and emergent work fronts, ensuring a collaborated efforts with team and Operations, engineering and support teams.
- Provide expert guidance on instrumentation systems, including control systems, field instruments, and communication networks. Serve as the primary focal for all instrumentation matters.
- Lead service and vendor coordination to achieve target objective.
Planning and Coordination:
- Lead and manage implementation, ensuring planning coordination between disciplines and planners for execution of instrumentation work scopes, ensuring alignment with Operations and Maintenance timelines and opportunities.
Team Management:
- Oversee, supervise, mentor, and develop team members to support development and exposure of members and the focus nationalization targets.
- Allocate resources, assign tasks, and monitor team performance to meet target and objectives.
Interface Management:
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance and other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, process, etc.) and suppliers to ensure seamless integration and implementation of instrumentation and control systems.
Quality Assurance:
- Oversee the implementation of quality Instrument & Control procedures, ensuring all instrumentation work meets both site and industry standards and regulatory compliance.
Safety Management:
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with site safety policies and procedures. Lead risk assessments and promote a safety-first culture.
- Guide an coach team members building positive safety culture.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Review and approve technical documents, drawings, and specifications. Prepare progress reports
Commissioning and Handover:
- Lead the commissioning of new instrumentation systems, ensuring proper functionality and smooth handover to operations teams.
Instrument Supervisor
- Daily Supervision:
- Oversee daily installation, maintenance, and calibration activities of instrumentation technicians, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Work Permit Management:
- Ensure all work is conducted under the correct permits and in compliance with site safety regulations.
- Technical Support:
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting assistance for complex instrumentation problems.
- Inspection and Testing:
- Supervise the inspection, testing, and calibration of field instruments to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
- Material and Tool Management:
- Ensure availability of required materials, tools, and equipment. Manage inventory and request additional supplies as needed.
- Training and Competency:
- Support development of new team members and ensure team members are competent in the latest instrumentation technologies and safety practices.
- Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and equipment status. Report daily progress to the Instrument Team Lead or relevant management.
- Emergency Response:
- Lead the instrumentation team in responding to equipment failures, process upsets, or emergency situations.
The Instrument Team Lead sets the strategic direction and ensures technical compliance, while the Instrument Supervisor manages day-to-day field operations. Both roles are essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of instrumentation systems in the oil and gas sector. Clear definition of these responsibilities supports operational excellence and safety across the industry
