Roles & Responsibilities

This role calls for a skilled storyteller and meticulous news writer who can strike a balance between speed and accuracy, maintaining the high standards expected by defense contractors, government entities, consultants, and financial institutions who rely on timely and precise intelligence.

Responsibilities

Writing & Drafting

  • Monitor news developments and draft Requests for Information (RFIs) based on situational awareness.
  • Produce daily intelligence summaries informed by field reports and analyst briefs.
  • Craft engaging headlines, summaries, and calls-to-action (CTAs) optimized for maximum engagement.
  • Contribute to in-depth reports and thematic studies in collaboration with senior editors and analysts.
  • Adapt research findings into client-ready newsletters and promotional content as needed.

Editing & Quality Control

  • Validate information for clarity, coherence, and accuracy.
  • Ensure all content adheres to internal editorial standards and style guidelines.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to improve overall accuracy and writing quality.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with analysts to convert research insights into actionable editorial content.
  • Coordinate with fellow editorial team members to ensure the timely delivery of daily and weekly publications.
  • Support marketing and sales teams by preparing client-facing editorial materials when necessary.

Analytical Contribution

  • Engage directly with raw intelligence and analyst briefs to extract patterns, insights, and strategic implications.
  • Contribute to framing and refining the analytical narrative of reports, going beyond basic fact-reporting.
  • Suggest new investigative angles, lines of inquiry, or contextual elements that enhance the value of reports.
  • Ensure each piece delivers actionable takeaways tailored to client needs, particularly in defense, energy, and geopolitical sectors.

Continuous Development

  • Stay informed about developments in the MENA region related to defense, energy, and geopolitics to enhance subject-matter expertise.
  • Contribute ideas for new editorial themes, report angles, and content formats.
  • Continuously improve writing and editing capabilities through training and editorial feedback.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • 3 6 years of experience in journalism, publishing, intelligence, or research-based writing/editing.
  • Excellent command of English writing and editing; proficiency in Arabic and/or French is a plus.
  • Strong ability to distil complex geopolitical, defense, or energy topics into clear, actionable content.
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset and capacity to contribute meaningfully to intelligence narratives.
  • Keen attention to detail, style consistency, and accuracy in fact-checking.
  • Proven time-management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced editorial environment.
