Roles & Responsibilities

Davidson Management Consultants have been mandated to recruit a western educated, native Arabic speaking Consultant Internal Medicine for their client in UAE which is a specialized rehabilitation hospital and residential treatment facility providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and residential care services. We are looking for Tier 1 or Tier 2 qualified physicians holding recognized qualifications such as ABMS Board Certification (USA), RCPSC (Canada), CCT/CCST (UK), FRACP (Australia & New Zealand), Arab Board, or equivalent qualifications recognized by UAE healthcare regulatory authorities. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of post-specialty experience and substantial inpatient hospital experience is mandatory. Previous exposure to addiction medicine, substance use disorder treatment, detoxification services, behavioral health facilities, or drug rehabilitation hospitals would be highly advantageous.

The Consultant Internal Medicine will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization, and ongoing management of adult patients admitted to inpatient rehabilitation and residential treatment programs. Conduct detailed medical evaluations, manage acute and chronic medical conditions, review complex medical histories, and ensure continuity of care throughout the patient's admission and recovery process. Manage patients with multiple comorbidities including cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, respiratory disorders, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic conditions, renal disease, and other complex internal medicine presentations commonly encountered within rehabilitation settings.

Provide medical oversight for patients undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, identifying and managing medical complications associated with alcohol dependence, opioid use, stimulant abuse, benzodiazepine dependence, and polysubstance use. Monitor patients during detoxification and rehabilitation phases, ensuring early recognition and treatment of withdrawal-related complications, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, infections, cardiovascular instability, and other medical concerns. Collaborate closely with Addiction Medicine Physicians, Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Nurses, Therapists, Social Workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and coordinated patient care.Participate actively in multidisciplinary case conferences, treatment planning meetings, medical reviews, and discharge planning discussions. Provide consultation and medical leadership regarding complex medical issues affecting patient rehabilitation outcomes and recovery progression. Assist in determining medical suitability for admission, continuation of care, transfer, or discharge from various levels of treatment.

Develop and implement evidence-based clinical pathways, chronic disease management programs, preventive healthcare initiatives, and inpatient medical protocols aligned with international standards and best practices. Participate in clinical governance activities, quality improvement initiatives, accreditation programs, morbidity and mortality reviews, and medical audits. Contribute to staff education, mentoring of junior physicians, and development of medical policies and procedures relevant to rehabilitation and addiction treatment environments.

Provide education to patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, lifestyle modification, disease prevention, medication compliance, and long-term health management. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, progress notes, discharge summaries, and treatment records in compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and clinical governance requirements. Ensure the highest standards of patient safety, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical medical practice at all times.
