Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The main duties will be:

  1. Web/digital
  • Under the guidance of the Content and Social Media Editors, prepare and publish content to msf.org in English and Arabic as needed;
  • Supports the posting, publishing and reposting of social media content on institutional channels, based on key priorities and public positioning;
  • Maintain the board of evergreen social media content, ensuring it is up to date and relevant
  • Under the guidance of the Content and Social Media Editors, work on updating the content on the country and topic pages of msf.org, in both EN and AR.
  • Under the guidance of the Content and Social Media Editors, engage in daily digital community management/monitoring across social media channels, including X, LinkedIn, BlueSky, WhatsApp and Facebook, managed by the International Editorial Unit.
  1. International Activity Report (IAR)
  • The assistant may assist the Content and Social Media Editors in preparing the IAR in EN and in AR via the following tasks:
  • working on the maps used for the report, including producing information for the translators who will subsequently translate the report;
  • writing and editing the captions for the photos;
  • update certain pages of the report, such as the Contacts and About this Report pages;
  • assist in uploading the digital version of the IAR to the country pages within msf.org;
  • Other tasks as delegated.
  1. Editorial
  • Support in the production of short public reporting documents on specific crises and biggest countries of intervention for communications and fundraising purposes.
  • Edit and proofread external communications in English and Arabic for publishing on MSF institutional channels.
  1. Digital Engagement
  • Update the list of MSF social media footprint with key information such as number of followers and contact details
  • Support international social media structures with contacting focal points across the organisation
  • Regularly browse digital platforms to help identify fake accounts and potential scams.
  • Other tasks as delegated
  1. AV supporting media database platform
  • Review and complete information that is provided with audiovisual content on the media database
  • Reach out to producers and/or content uploaders to collect missing information
  1. Support MSF productions/initiatives monitoring
  • Support the Communications and knowledge management adviser in compiling a list of global MSF communications initiatives (Comms Index)
  • Support the triaging / archiving / organising of files on portals and repositories
  • Support with the creation, follow up and analysis of feedback loops
  • Help with the creation of tutorials and how to on the portal
  • Check the contact list on regular basis and flag inaccuracies
  1. Administrative
  • Manage and maintain the board of content planning
  • At times, the Communications Assistant may be asked to support the rest of the Communications team with administrative tasks.

Desired Candidate Profile

Recent university graduate or working towards a degree in communications

Possess a keen eye for detail;

Demonstrable interest in communications, including digital communications;

Excellent written communication skills in English and Arabic is essential ability to write for social media is an advantage;

Demonstrate knowledge of different social media platforms, and their format and audience differences

Computer literacy: experience using MS Office; experience with Asana and content management systems (especially Drupal) is an advantage

Strong organisational skills, punctual, reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently;

A flexible team member, ready to adapt to the needs of the team.

Genuine interest in and commitment to the humanitarian principles of MSF

In order to qualify for an internship position, the applicants should be prepared to provide documentary evidence that they are in one of the following situations:

  • Currently enrolled in a certifying training course;
  • Between certifying training courses (eg. Bachelor and Master) with the condition that the utility of the internship is certified by the training institution organising the second training.
  • Professional or social reinsertion according to federal or canton legal mechanisms.

Failure to do so will result in ineligibility for the position.
