Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Provides consultations and care to inpatients and outpatients with cardiovascular diseases and completes medical documentation and provide reports in a timely and professional manner.
Shares in the on call duty of the general Cardiology Services Division according to operational need. During call will be expected to respond to requests for assistance from the emergency rooms both at Dhahran Health Center and all the districts and QI physicians for the medically designated facilities. May also be consulted by other specialists after working hours to provide emergency consultation for the Internal Medicine Services Division and Surgical Services Division. Will be expected to take cases for interventional cardiology as per operational need. Responds to requests for emergency PTCA/stenting even outside routine working hours as per call schedule.
Participates in the monthly staff meetings of the Cardiology Services Division and attends any mandatory meetings of the Division, particularly the Cardiac Catheterization Conference. Contributes to the educational activities of the Division, including Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs as well as contribute to the education or professional development of other health care professionals in contact with the Cardiology Services Division, particularly Cardiovascular Technicians, Cath Lab personnel, Professional Development Physicians and Cardiology Staff Physicians.
Participates in interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and performance improvement activities with the Hospital.
Desired Candidate Profile
• To perform professional duties of a Cardiologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Chief of the Cardiology Services Division, and approval by the Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
• Develops collegial relationships and works collaboratively other physicians, nurses, allied health providers, and administrators across departments and districts at JHAH
• Participates in the development and implementation of administrative policies, medical practice procedures, clinical guidelines, and standard operating procedures in the catheterization lab. Provides oversight and accountability for the operational effectiveness of the catheterization lab to sustain a high quality Interventional Program at Dhahran Health Center
• Monitors the quality, safety and appropriateness of care related to interventional cardiology and ensuring that all practices meet or exceed national and international standards.

The Interventional Cardiologist is a staff member of the Cardiology Services Division of the Medical Operations Department. Provides direct clinical treatment services to outpatients and inpatients who have disorders of the cardiovascular system, such as unstable angina and acute coronary syndromes, congestive heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, and arrhythmia disorders. Invasive procedures will include but is not limited to diagnostic coronary arteriography, temporary pacemaker implantation, Swan-Ganz insertion, and emergency pericardocentesis. In addition to performing catheter-based procedures, will be responsible for performing and interpreting the following studies: EKG s, transthoracic echo Doppler studies, Holter monitors and stress tests including both exercise and pharmacological stress tests. Additional privileges may be requested to perform transcatheter valve replacement, pacemaker insertion, or specialized echo Doppler procedures, such as transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography and contract echo. Will report directly to the Chief of Cardiology Services Division, and must actively participate in all the clinical, educational, and quality improvement activities of the division. Serves as the physician in charge of Cardiac Cath Lab and resource individual for other invasive cardiology colleagues and staff.
