Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities 1. Inventory Analysis & Optimization
- Analyze 24-36 months of consumption data across all storage locations to establish accurate demand baselines by item and business unit.
- Apply appropriate forecasting models based on demand patterns, including moving average, linear trend, seasonal decomposition, and Crostons method for intermittent demand.
- Calculate optimal safety stock levels considering lead time, supplier reliability, service level targets, and item criticality.
- Classify inventory into categories such as Good Stock, Slow Moving, Overstocked, and Obsolete based on defined thresholds.
- Develop an item-level action matrix with clear recommendations for each stock category.
- Identify surplus inventory and consolidation opportunities by mapping stock against alternate item usage.
- Create consumption storyboards per business unit highlighting current stock, projected demand, and recommended actions.
2. Clinical Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with clinicians, pharmacists, and nursing teams to validate interchangeable and alternative items.
- Facilitate Item Selection Committee discussions for approvals on substitutions, deactivations, and formulary changes.
- Ensure all recommendations prioritize clinical safety, avoiding stockouts for critical and lifesaving items.
- Engage stakeholders to capture future demand changes such as new procedures, seasonal trends, and service expansions.
- Document and maintain item status classifications across all workstreams.
- Act as a liaison between data teams and clinical users, translating analytical insights into actionable recommendations.
3. Data Collection & Validation :
- Coordinate extraction of key datasets including consumption, stock levels, valuation, supplier performance, and expiry data from GRP systems.
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency before analysis.
- Reconcile consignment stock and determine its inclusion in optimization models.
- Review current min/max and reorder settings as a baseline for optimization.
- Work with IT teams to ensure required reporting and data extraction capabilities are available.
4. Framework, Policy & Knowledge Transfer :
- Support the development of inventory management frameworks and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) policies for healthcare supply chains.
- Document forecasting methodologies, safety stock calculations, and planning assumptions.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to enable internal teams to sustain optimization efforts.
- Maintain forecasting tools (e.g., Excel-based models) for ongoing use. Track and report KPIs such as implementation rates, cost reduction, and data accuracy improvements.
5. Governance & Compliance :
- Ensure all inventory deactivation and changes follow approved governance and PLM policies.
- Maintain audit trails for inventory decisions, stock adjustments, and master data updates.
Ensure compliance with GS1/UDI traceability requirements for high-risk and implantable items.
Adhere to approval workflows for all master data and system changes.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience Education:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, or a related field.
Masters degree in Healthcare Supply Chain, Hospital Administration, or an MBA with a Supply Chain specialization is preferred.
