Roles & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Modeling and Valuation:

Review, build, and maintain detailed, flexible, and robust three-statement financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for potential greenfield and brownfield mining projects, M&A targets, and joint ventures.

Work closely with the technical and operational unit to get the inputs of the financial model including mine schedules, capital expenditure (CapEx) timelines, operating expenditure (OpEx) forecasts, and tax structures.

Ensure models accurately reflect project finance structures, debt sizing, and equity returns (IRR, NPV, ROI).

Conduct comprehensive valuation analyses using various methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.

Perform rigorous sensitivity and scenario analysis to assess the impact of key variables (e.g., commodity prices, cost overruns, production delays, discount rates) on project viability and returns.

Calculate and interpret key financial metrics (NPV, IRR, Payback Period, profitability ratios) for the Business Development Manager and senior management.

Engagement with internal functions:

Collaborate closely with the team internally within the unit and within the organization to ensure all assumptions in the financial models are well-informed, documented, and strategically aligned.

Support the Business Development Manager in preparing investment proposals, business cases, and presentations to secure internal and external funding approvals.

Work closely with the Assets Team in tracking the financial performance of new projects against initial projections.

Partnership and Transactions:

Lead the financial due diligence process for potential acquisitions or partnerships. Reporting and cooperating with other departments:

Periodically update and stress-test existing portfolio project models based on new operating data and market conditions.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualification & Experience:

Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

CFA, CPA, or an MBA is highly desirable.

Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in financial modelling and valuation, preferably within the mining, energy, or project finance sector.

Technical Competencies:

Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for advanced financial modelling.

Deep understanding of financial analysis including but not limited to : profitability ratios and investment appraisal.

Deep understanding of accounting standards (IFRS), and investment valuation techniques.

Analytical Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in complex financial calculations.
