Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description:

The IT Infrastructure & Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization s virtualization environment, server infrastructure, monitoring systems, and ITSM processes. The role requires hands on experience with VMware technologies, storage virtualization (VSAN), patch management, and application monitoring tools such as ManageEngine. The engineer will ensure the stability, performance, and security of all core infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities 1. ManageEngine Administration
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize ManageEngine Application Manager for monitoring server, application, and network performance.
  • Set up alerts, dashboards, custom monitors, and reporting for proactive issue detection.
  • Maintain integrations with ITSM tools and ensure complete visibility of IT operations.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and version upgrades of monitoring components.
2. VMware Infrastructure Management
  • Administer and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, virtual machines, and clusters.
  • Perform VM provisioning, resource optimization, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure high availability (HA), DRS, snapshots, and disaster recovery configurations are functioning properly.
3. VMware vSAN Management
  • Manage and maintain vSAN storage clusters, including configuration, health monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Conduct routine storage audits and ensure optimal redundancy and availability.
  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues and coordinate hardware upgrades when needed.
4. Microsoft Server Patch Management
  • Plan, schedule, and execute Microsoft Windows Server patching in accordance with security and compliance standards.
  • Manage WSUS, SCCM, or equivalent patching frameworks.
  • Validate patches in test environments before production rollout.
  • Troubleshoot patch failures and maintain patch compliance reports.
5. ITSM Processes
  • Work within IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and follow best practices for Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request Management.
  • Ensure timely documentation and closure of IT tickets.
  • Participate in change advisory board (CAB) meetings and support controlled change implementation.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of ManageEngine Application Manager or similar monitoring tools.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and vSAN administration.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server OS, patching, basic PowerShell scripting, and server troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3 6 years of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or virtualization.
  • Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
    • VMware VCP
    • ITIL Foundation
    • Microsoft Server-related certifications
    • ManageEngine tool certifications
