Roles & Responsibilities


The Joinery Draftsman (Shop Drawing Engineer) is responsible for producing detailed, fabrication-ready joinery shop drawings, millwork details, and as-built documentation for custom joinery and fit-out projects. This role translates architectural and interior design intent into precise workshop and site drawing packages.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed joinery shop drawings from architectural/interior design drawings including plan views, elevations, sections, and assembly details for cabinetry, wardrobes, wall panels, counters, reception desks, and decorative millwork.

  • Produce fabrication drawings for workshop production with all required dimensions, material specifications, hardware schedules, and finish notes.

  • Prepare joinery layout drawings showing installation positions, fixings, and interfaces with adjacent construction elements.

  • Coordinate joinery drawings with architectural, MEP, and structural drawings to produce clash-free integrated packages.

  • Update drawings based on RFI responses, client comments, and site variations.

  • Produce hardware and material schedules from drawing sets for procurement and workshop use.

  • Prepare and maintain as-built joinery drawings for project handover records.

  • Manage drawing registers, revision history, and transmittal logs.

  • Liaise with site and workshop teams to resolve drawing queries and production issues.


Desired Candidate Profile


  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Furniture Design, or Drafting Technology.

  • 5–9 years of joinery/millwork shop drawing experience in UAE/GCC fit-out or joinery contracting.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory); SketchUp and/or Cabinet Vision/Alphacam experience is a strong advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of joinery construction methods, material types (MDF, plywood, veneers, solid wood, laminates), and hardware systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce dimensionally accurate fabrication-ready drawings.
