Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Junior Environmental Engineer will support environmental consultancy activities including
field sampling, environmental monitoring, data collection, and basic reporting. The role is
designed for a developing professional (0–2 years’ experience) who will gain hands-on exposure
to environmental site work, laboratory coordination, and regulatory compliance projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Sampling & Site Work
• Assist in soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and waste sampling activities
• Support site investigations and environmental inspections
• Ensure proper sample handling, labeling, preservation, and chain of custody
• Follow standardized procedures aligned with United States Environmental Protection
Agency
2. Environmental Monitoring Support
• Assist in environmental monitoring programs (air quality, noise, water quality, soil
contamination)
• Support installation and operation of field monitoring equipment
• Collect field data accurately and maintain field logs
3. Laboratory Coordination
• Coordinate with internal or external laboratories for sample submission
• Track laboratory results and assist in preliminary data review
• Support testing related to parameters such as BOD, COD, TPH, heavy metals, and nutrients
4. Data Entry & Basic Reporting
• Assist in organizing environmental data and results
• Prepare tables, charts, and summaries for technical reports
• Support preparation of baseline environmental reports and monitoring summaries
5. Compliance & Standards Support
• Support compliance with local environmental regulations and
project requirements
• Assist in applying international standards such as ISO 14001
• Help ensure documentation aligns with regulatory expectations (e.g., WHO environmental
guidelines where applicable) World Health Organization
6. Health, Safety & Field Discipline
• Follow all HSE procedures during field activities
• Wear appropriate PPE and follow site safety instructions
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or
related field
• Fresh graduates or up to 2 years of experience
Technical Skills
• Basic understanding of environmental sampling and field procedures
• Awareness of environmental parameters (water, soil, air quality indicators)
• Basic Microsoft Excel and reporting skills
• GIS knowledge is a plus but not required
Soft Skills
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills
• Good teamwork and communication abilities
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to work in field conditions (including outdoor and industrial sites)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Accuracy of field data collection and sample handling
• Timeliness in completing assigned tasks
• Compliance with HSE and sampling protocols
• Quality of basic data summaries and reporting support
Reporting Line
• Reports to: Environmental Engineer / Senior Consultant
• Works closely with: Field team, laboratory staff, and project consultants
