Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and optimize formulations of drilling fluid chemicals (e.g., viscosifiers, fluid loss additives,
shale inhibitors, lubricants, etc.). - Perform routine and advanced laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products according to
industry standards (API, ASTM, etc.). - Ensure product quality through batch testing and maintain detailed documentation of laboratory results.
- Work closely with R&D, operations, and sales teams to support new product development and customer-
specific requirements. - Troubleshoot formulation and performance issues and provide technical recommendations.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory environment focused on drilling fluids or oilfield chemicals.
- Strong knowledge of water-based and oil-based mud systems and their additives.
- Familiarity with industry testing methods and instruments (e.g., Fann viscometer, HPHT filter press, mud balance, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- In-depth understanding of drilling fluid chemistry and formulation techniques.
- Ability to diagnose product or test discrepancies and provide scientific solutions.
- Works effectively with cross-functional teams across departments.
- Commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic lab environment.
